The Product

Our transparent Solar Control Inserts are designed to reflect heat away from your conservatory in the summer to help keep it cool. They are also designed to insulate in the winter to reduce heat loss and all this without compromising light levels or the light airy feel of your conservatory. They are simply fitted into the top chamber of your polycarbonate roof and there performance far surpasses that of the best internal blinds. Not only do they reflect the heat and insulate in the winter, they also significantly reduce glare, and protect against furniture and furnishings fading. The Inserts come with a 10 year guarantee although as they are incorporated into your roof they will last at least as long as your roof does.

How Inserts Work

Heat build up in your conservatory is caused by the ‘Greenhouse Effect’. The sun passes through your Polycarbonate Roof and heats the contents of your conservatory. The heat given off by the things inside your conservatory cannot escape as the wave lengths are different to when they entered your conservatory. As a result your conservatory heats up a lot faster than the outside air. Solar Control Inserts are made from Polymer films of the highest optical clarity which contain finely divided metals and metal oxides. These transmit or reflect chosen wave lengths before they enter your conservatory therefore preventing the heat build up from occurring, they also allow light to enter, protect against fading, and to give high performance winter insulation.

Types of Reflective Insert

There are two main types of solar reflective insert Flat Foil and Legged. Both perform fairly similarly despite what different suppliers will tell you. Inserts come on a 100m roll and are inserted into the top channel of a polycarbonate roof. The main difference is the price, and that flat foils require a rod for installation. The legged inserts are rigid enough to be installed without.
